An All-inclusive Introduction to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2, previously known as the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two, is a second-tier international cricket tournament that acts as a pathway to the ICC Cricket World Cup. The tournament was created in 2019 as part of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) new qualification structure for the Cricket World Cup.

The League 2 competition features 14 teams, including 12 Full Members and two Associate Members. The tournament will be played over a three-year period (2023-24-2027), with each team playing a total of 36 matches.

Tournament Format

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing each other twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams at the end of the three-year period qualify automatically for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

The third-placed team in League 2 will then play two semi-finals matches against the third- and fourth-placed teams from League 1. The winners of those semi-finals will qualify for a qualifying tournament, which will be held in 2027. The top two teams from the qualifying tournament will earn the remaining two spots in the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
