Maria Sakkari: A Rising Star in Women's Tennis

Early Life and Career

Maria Sakkari was born on July 25, 1995, in Athens, Greece. She began playing tennis at a young age, and by the age of 15, she had already won several national junior tournaments.

Professional Success

Sakkari turned professional in 2013 and quickly made a name for herself on the WTA Tour. In 2017, she reached the semifinals of the US Open, becoming the first Greek woman to reach the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament in the Open Era.

Since then, Sakkari has continued to improve her ranking and has won multiple WTA singles and doubles titles, including the 2021 Morocco Open. She has also represented Greece in the Olympics and the Fed Cup.
