Haaland Redeems Penalty Miss, City Draws 1-1 with Bayern
Manchester City has secured its place in the Champions League semifinals after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich in the second leg of their quarterfinal tie. The English champions had taken a commanding 3-0 lead in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium, and they defended resolutely in Munich to protect that advantage.
Haaland Makes Amends
It was a night of redemption for Erling Haaland, who had missed a penalty in the first half. However, the Norwegian striker made amends with a clinical finish in the 63rd minute, giving City a vital away goal. Bayern Munich had numerous chances to equalize but were denied by some excellent goalkeeping from Ederson and some heroic defending from the City backline.
The draw means Manchester City will face either Real Madrid or Chelsea in the semifinals. The first leg of that tie will be played on April 26, with the second leg scheduled for May 3.
