John Weinstein's Ties to Judge Staff Emerge in Lawsuit Amid Allegheny County Executive Race

John Weinstein, a Democratic candidate for Allegheny County executive, is facing allegations from opponent Dave Fawcett that he is not qualified for the position.
Fawcett has accused Weinstein of having ties to judge staff, which he claims could compromise Weinstein's impartiality if elected. Weinstein has denied the allegations, saying that he has never acted improperly.
The allegations against Weinstein stem from a lawsuit filed by former Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner. Wagner alleges that Weinstein, who was then her deputy controller, interfered in a county contract award process. Weinstein has denied the allegations, and the case is still pending.
The race for Allegheny County executive is expected to be competitive. In addition to Weinstein and Fawcett, other candidates include Rich Fitzgerald, the incumbent, and Erin McClelland.
